The Bloomberg thing wasn't so weird after all.

Very beutiful work
On another note, I still question why they had to destroy it in the first place... it was a wonderfull tree.

Holy SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
This, more of this! All of the this! I only wish it was larger so I could study it in greater detail.
May just be my favorite depiction of Ponyville, right here. Feels a little sparser than what we see in the show, but it puts a great, moody emphasis on the library and the crystal castle. The place looks like it could be an actual... well, an actual place. The sky is beautiful, no, GORGEOUS, and the castle simultaneously imposing/foreboding and lovely to look at. That lighting... and AJ! AJ ties it all together and completes the mood. Well, that and the rain. AJ and the rain.
Besides a higher resolution, all this picture needs is a few more houses along the hilltops. But maybe "needs" is too strong a word.

How about that? I guess your right in that the Bloomberg thing wasn't that bad.XD. But in any case I can see why people tend to morn Golden Oaks. it wasn't just Twilights home and Ponyville's library but it was our home as well. I like how the picture has a melancholy feel to it. even though the sun is shining there's that small loss that can never quite be replaced. I'm happy that Tirek was beaten and the castle is a nice little addition but things will never be the same. Having AJ there I believe is a good call as she has been by Twi's side a bit more then the others and she probably has the most memories there. Well that's my own interoperation. Still it's sad when a familiar landmark that has so many memories associated with it disappears but now that means we can go live in that castle now. XD
I guess she was but it's the after effects that will soon hit once they realise that the tree is gone.
Yeah, it really sucks that the library is gone.
However, I am glad that not much else got ruined.

Except the main character, the music, the writing, the villains brought back for underwhelming reappearances. Not much.
Not going to be surprised if in S5, we see Twilight and the others planting a new tree seed in the spot, and the show giving its' young audience a 'where there's death, there is life anew' kinda thing going on. I mean, Twilight doesn't need a place to live now, but Ponyville needs a library. Unless her castle's functioning as that too.
I assume that is how the castle will be used for the most part. I mean, the castle feels more like an "walk-in" building instead of an actual castle, and Twilight needs a place to store her books. So, I assume it will be used as a library, or at least a place holder until a new library has been built.
And once the new library is built, she could still have a library in her castle, but a private one for all her personal books so as to not risk letting any changeling spies slip in and lead an attack on Ponyville.
I just love the atmosphere here, the way the village looks, the warm light coming out of the windows while the rain comes down dark and cloudy outside, nice work!
That's a beautifully melancholy piece of work. Landscapes look wonderful when there's an overcast sky and rain, but still enough sunlight for the whole scene to appear green and lush.
This really goes to show the lengths Hasbro will go in order to sell new toys and play sets, but I'm not going to get into any arguments here.
I will miss that tree...
You really did an incredible piece there. The composition with the town from this angle, the rain to give a melancholic atmosphere and lot of details.
Awesome work. BTW, this is what reminds me "I Feel You": www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOQf3l…

I like the rain effect. The scene seems to be at twilight, but it still looks too bright in places for it to be truly twilight, leading to a neat effect there as well.
Was going for overcast, but the lighting changed many times through the evolution, don't think it turned out as I'd like it, which explains the weirdness.
I too am sad at the passing of the Tree...but can we just let it go? Things have to change for things to stay fresh. The sacrifice of Golden Oaks could lead to great things, and let's face it, seeing them go back on something like this would be as much of a cop out as bringing back Brian.
Yeah! That's right, I said it! That was a cop out, and you all know it!

The destruction of the library symbolizes and brings to a head both the spectacle creep of the show and the departure of the relaxing, charming, immersive slice-of-life exploits of a slightly-more-than-ordinary student.
The keep talking about it! Things like that need to be talked about. However, when #savetree and the petition started getting passed around, I got pretty annoyed. This is another case of over-drama that we as a fandom have such a struggle with.
The petition is silly, but isn't over-drama. They are slowly moving away from the core of what made the show great, why not ask them to take a step back?
